Radcliffe & Bingham Chess Club Constitution

1. The name of the club shall be the Radcliffe & Bingham Chess Club.

2. The aims are to offer facilities for the regular playing of chess and the opportunity of competitive match play for its members.

3. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will normally be held in the first two weeks in May and is subject to two weeks’ notice in writing by the Secretary.

4. The officers to consist of:
[a] Chair,
[b] Secretary,
[c] Treasurer,
[d] Team Captains,
who shall form the Committee.

5. A quorum for the officers’ Committee to make decision affecting the day-to-day running of the club is three.

6. The subscriptions to be decided at the AGM, and also the date by which the subscriptions must be paid and the fee charged to visitors.

7. The Treasurer shall present a statement of accounts at the AGM and the club members may appoint an auditor to audit the accounts.

8. Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) may be called by a majority of the Committee, providing seven days’ notice is given.

9. The Committee shall have powers to make decisions and rulings in matters not specifically mentioned in the constitution.

10. Amendments to the constitution may only be made at the AGM by a vote of all members present. Notice of proposed additions or amendments to the constitution must reach the Secretary in writing at least seven days before the date fixed for the AGM.

11.In the event of the winding up of the club:
[a] The chess sets and any other equipment shall be offered to the Nottinghamshire Chess Association and/or Nottinghamshire Primary Schools Chess Association.
[b] Any outstanding funds shall be handed over to the Nottinghamshire Chess Foundation.

12.The team selections shall be in the hands of the Chair and Team Captains.
