Junior County Championship Success and England Recognition for Radcliffe and Bingham Stars

In March two of our talented youngsters won prestigious Junior County Championship titles.

Harry Stanley, the reigning Nottinghamshire County Under-10 Champion, was this time round crowned the county’s Under-11 Champion with a tremendous five wins and a draw from six rounds of play.

Adam Amirthanathan, who last year was Nottinghamshire County Under-9 Runner-up, became the county’s new Under-10 Champion with a brilliant six wins out of six.

Two other Radcliffe and Bingham juniors produced great performances in the Under-10 championship: Benedict Child scoring 4 out of 6 and Noah Wright 3 out of 6.

The championships were held at the Nottingham High School and were organised by the Nottinghamshire Primary Schools Chess Association.

Harry and Adam’s excellent performances earned them national recognition as they were invited to participate in the England Under-11 Team Trials in Liverpool in April. Competing against the best young players in the country, they performed creditably with Harry scoring 3 out of 6 and Adam 2.5 out of 6.
